Sponsors Welcome!
August 26, 2008
Attention bike shop owners and running shoe stores: you could be a TinMan Sponsor, and enjoy an exclusive sponsorship in your category. We have out-of-town guests and local friends that might need to purchase a bike, service their current bike, or purchase riding gear, or new shoes…all to compete in the TinMan. First one to contact us and step up – wins!
Sponsors are those that donate cash, goods and services to support the TinMan Race and Party; special recognition will also be given to those who donate similarly to our selected charitable organization, Susan G. Komen For the Cure.
Aside from the obvious good will, associating yourself with our annual event will give you a competitive advantage in future years! So step up and sponsor TinMan!
Race Update
August 25, 2008
The Race is On! The course is similar to previous years, not too strenuous, not too technical, but not for wimps and cupcakes!
The 2008 TinMan Race
Location: Aliso & Woods Canyons
Start time: 7:00 am sharp!
Starting Line: the parking lot of the Nature Center, across the street from the Mormon Church
Approximate distances: 12 mile ride and a 6 mile run.
The Ride: from the parking lot, up “the rock”, up Dripping Cave, up Mathis Canyon, down Rock-It, Coyote Run to Main Trail to Cholla, up Cholla, down Lynx, out the Main Trail back to the parking lot.
The Run: Drop your bike, put on your sneakers, take the trail (not the road), up “the rock”, up Dripping Cave, to the intersection with the Mathis Canyon trail, turn right back to the Main Trail, and take it home.
Alternative Races: Tin is about having fun. Some may choose to find a partner, one to ride the bike and the other to run. Others entrants may choose to just do one or the other legs of the race. Join in!
Partner Relay Race: One person rides, the other runs. Race starts at 7am.
Run Only Race: Race starts at 8:30 am and is the same course as the TinMan run…approx 6 miles. Runners will organize themselves at the start. We elected the start time to coincide with a lot of the riders who will be transitioning from bike to run.
Tissue Boy and Tissue Girl: This is a 6 mile ride followed by a 3 mile run. The course will be determined for all Tissue entrants on race day.
And of course, the TinMan Party starts at the Heine residence later in the day.

Breast Cancer Foundation
August 25, 2008
This year, and beyond, the TinMan Race is pledging its proceeds to charities and organizations dedicated to finding a cure for breast cancer. Look for reminders before, during and after the race in the morning.
But more importantly, there will be a canopy and tables set up during the TinMan Party, where Komen foundation staff will be available to collect your donation and answer questions.
When you make your gift “In Memory of” or “In Celebration of” a loved one, the Susan G. Komen foundation can send a personalized tribute card to the person or family you are honoring. Anonymous gifts are also graciously accepted. All gifts to the Orange County Affiliate of Susan G. Komen For the Cure are tax deductible to the full extent of the law.
The Band Has Been Booked!
August 17, 2008
We are pleased to announce that the Rolling Stones have been booked for the 2008 TinMan Party. Well, okay, that’s not exactly true, but we have it on good authority that the band will play a Rolling Stones song or two.
The band is great! It’s called West Coast Strayz, and yes, if you click on the band’s name, you can visit its website if you like.
