Race Details 2011

August 23, 2011

Everything should be the same as last year….except the start time! We’re reverting back to the earlier start time of 7am.

So arrive early. 6:30am would be a good idea…to give you time to park, gear up, check your chain, tires, and water bottle, and get to the starting line for the green flag.

2011 TinMan Race is On!

August 23, 2011

TinMan Race and PartyIt’s that time of year again… our 17th Annual Tinman race!

This year’s event will be very similar to the popular format of last year:

  • We’re starting at the main parking lot across from the Mormon Church
  • Starting time will be 7am, not 8am
  • The party will start at 3pm
  • An Octoberfest theme with Beers from Germany – Sponsorships are available!
  • A great band will be playing again at the party.

The Race

When: Saturday, October 8, 2011 – 7am start time (get there early…6:30 is a good idea)
Where: Aliso & Woods Canyon at the parking lot across from the Mormon Church

The Party

When: Party starts at 3pm will end at 10:30pm
Where: Roy and Holly Heine’s Home, 26011 Via Arboleda, San Juan Capistrano, CA 92675

The Cause

Susan G Komen Foundation: Please bring money to donate for this very important cause or you can donate online right here on the website or on our Komen page.

The Fine Print

The Beer: We are looking for sponsors for fine beer from Germany. Your $100 donation is all it takes to get your logo published and recognition for contributing to the event and sponsoring a great beer.

The Race: It’s all about fun and earning the coveted TinCup. The race starts at 7am so you should get to the parking lot no later than 6:30am. From the parking lot we will ride down the road and enter onto the main trail. Up Dripping Cave, up Mathis, down Rock-It, left on Coyote, up Cholla, down Lynx, out the main trail back to the parking lot. Drop your bike, put on your running shoes. Down the road, right onto the main trail, up The Rock, up Dripping Cave, right at the bottom of Mathis, over the creek, right on the main trail, and take it home. Previous winners “may” be required to carry 20 pounds of rocks during the race.

The Rewards: Winner takes the TinCup, 2nd place Gets the TinHead, Spirit Award gets the V-Cup. Some may elect to do the entire race. Some may do it with a teammate, some may ride only. Some may just want to come out and do a long walk. Whatever makes you happy! Come prepared with everything you need; water is the most important. We provide nothing but fun on the course…the rest is on you.

The Party: Party starts at 3pm. The band is an OC premier rock band that has been around for decades. Great music. No kids, please. We will arrange transportation for you to get home, so you do NOT drink and drive! Or have a designated driver…let’s have fun and be safe.

What to bring: Once again this year we are asking everyone who can, and who chooses, to donate money to Susan G. Komen For the Cure. Donations can be made via this link to a special TinManRace Fund on the Susan G. Komen website. If you can’t figure out how to do that online, just bring a donation to the race or party.

Sponsorships: We’re also asking for sponsorships for this year’s party! Last year’s Octoberfest 2010 TinMan theme was so popular….we’re doing it again in 2011. Who will step up and sponsor a keg? A table?
